E: In what way is it not offensive? It is quite clearly a critical word, and I think it's highly ironic that you are calling James a prat, wrongly, when you yourself are one. I suppose the phrase 'takes one to know one' is applicable in this situation. Except you are so much of a prat that you have wrongly identified James as one.

She talked rapidly, coolly, voice level and dripping with disdain.

Amy let out a low 'oooh'

S: Well, in my opinion, the accusation that one mistakes their own flaws when pointing out someone else's is the most factually inaccurate thing I've heard since James told me that trolls celebrate Hanukah. There are worse things I could have called him, and believe me, there are much worse things I could call you.

His eyes were slits, their silver irises turning steely grey.

She didn't even flinch as she retorted.

E: Oh, I don't doubt it. However should you call me anything of the sort it would be, as they say, water off a duck's back. I don't care for your opinion of me, so it doesn't affect me, therefore call me whatever you want, it means nothing to me. However your words are clearly meaningful to James, as his best friend, so I stand by my statement: not only are you incorrect, you are simultaneously rude and callous.

Sirius was seconds away from mentioning how much 'stuck up' seemed to have meant to her on Thursday, but Amy spoke up.

A: Stop it! Both of you!

Evangeline cleared her throat lightly.

E: Sorry.

She said to Amy, Remus and James. Sirius earned a look of disdain.

Sirius muttered something under his breath.

A: What?

S: I said I'm sorry too.

E: I highly doubt that's what you said...

She muttered.

Amy looked a mix between exasperated and tired.

A: I hate the library. I'm going to the common room. See you at dinner.

She left.

R: Yeah I'm going, too.

Remus stood up.

J: Well I'm not staying with them!

They ran away before Evangeline or Sirius could relax.

Sirius looked as the walked away, gaping.

Evangeline stared after them, rage and embarrassment blooming on her features. She immediately put all of her efforts into avoiding his eyes. Instead, she set about taking a book from her bag and reading.

What situation. He couldn't just leave, could he?

He read his book.

Evangeline pretended to read for a bit, discreetly watching him over the top of her book. After a few (pathetic) minutes of this, she put her book down and snapped it shut.

E: What you did was very rude, you know.

S: Hmm?

He didn't look up.

E: What you're doing right now is also rude.

She glowered.

Sirius let out an exasperated sigh.

S: I was reading.

E: And now you're being rude. It seems you have something of a talent for it.

S: Do you have a point?

E: Yes: that you are naturally a very rude person. It's the only logical hypothesis.

Sirius went back to his book.

S: Oh?

E: Yes.

S: If it helps, I think you're rude too.

E: In what way would that help me?

Evangeline hissed, glaring.

He rolled his eyes.

E: Another example of your rudeness.

Evangeline sang, leaning back in her seat and opened her book again.
