They arrived in the lounge, always strangely empty. Kind of like how the table in Central Perk was always ready for the cast of Friends.

Amy put her feet up on the sofa and sighed.

A: This is good.

E: Mm, overall it's been a top notch dat, wouldn't you say?

She sighed.

A: Yeah. Great new year!

She laughed.

Evangeline nudged her friend with a half-sad smile.

E: At least we haven't had the worst day of anyone at school.

A: Why?

She looked up.

E: Well... Remus. And Myrtle, I suppose.

Amy huffed, returning to staring at the ceiling.

A: I wonder why she haunts the bathroom.

E: Aren't we here to talk about your boyfriend?

Amy whined and crossed her arms.

A: Can I still call him that? I ran away!

R: You think he'd break up with you over that?

Amy shrugged.

A: I clearly don't know him as well as I thought I did.

E: Amy, contemplate this: imagine you had a serious illness that affected you horribly on a regular basis; something that other people found absolutely repulsive, to the point where they would consciously avoid you if they knew, perhaps even have you expelled from school. Would you tell the one person you wanted to see you at your best?

Amy was quiet for a little while, but eventually spoke up.

A: I could've got all this all out of the way years ago. He told James and Sirius and Peter, and I was their friend too.

E: He didn't tell them, remember? They found out, just like you, and he decided he couldn't lie anymore. And Amy, I'm not trying to make you feel bad, but those three's reaction was to learn, illegally, how to become animagi so they could support him.

Find the moral.

A: Stop it!

She shouted, throwing her hands up in annoyance.

A: I know you're trying to help, Evangeline, but you're not!

She sat up properly.

A: Are you saying I'm a crap friend, then? That Remus is better off without me? Are you saying I should break the law to be with him on his- whatever it is you want to call it!?

She looked dangerously close to tears again.

E: That isn't what I'm saying, Amy, but whose reaction do you think made Remus feel good about himself?

A: You think I ran out on him because I wanted him to feel bad? I just found out he's a werewolf!

She hissed the last part. Frustration was swaddling her chest. What was Evangeline playing at?

E: So did they - they didn't care.

Amy was quiet but her eyes were watery.

E: I know you don't want to hear it, and I understand your reaction, but I understand his, too.

Amy wanted to shout at her, tell her that she didn't understand at all. But she knew Evangeline was right. So she stayed quiet.
