E: I think so, yes.

M: Finally.

She walked with her to dinner

Evangeline sat in her old seat.

E: Done the homework?

M: Hm? Oh, yes, I have.

Millie rummaged through her bag.

M: Er...oh no, where is it, I can't find- here it is.

She was sure forgetting her homework would be the death of her, with this professor.

Evangeline produced hers, too.

E: I hate that moment of panic where you think you've lost something, the terribly lurch that your heart gives.

M: Oh, yes. A very terrible lurch. Kind of like when you step in a puddle with your socks on.

E: I suppose it is very similar.

M: Very.

Millie giggled quietly and straightened her papers out.

Evangeline looked up at Professor Scary walked in.

M: Looks like Professor Goblin has got a stick up her ass this morning.

She whispered to Evangeline.

Evangeline put her hand to her lips to stop her smirk.

Prof: Something funny, Miss Loveridge?

E: N-No, Professor!

M: We were just admiring your shoes! You look lovely today, professor.

She looked ghastly.

P: A very nice lie, Miss Rugwald.

She went on to explain that day's lesson.

Millie tuned in and out, not exactly paying attention.

Evangeline took in everything in detail.

Millie looked rather bleary by the end of the lesson. She hastily scribbled the homework in her planner and stood up.

M: What's next?

She asked with a yawn.

E: Defense against the dark arts, I believe.

Evangeline replied as she packed her bag and stood up.

E: Which means seeing spinach.

M: Sucks to be you. You have to face a very attractive, good-looking male who obviously wants you.

She rolled her eyes dramatically.

E: Attractive, yes; good-looking, certainly; wanting me? No. Most definitely not. He does not 'want' me. He doesn't even like me and the feeling is mutual... actually scratch that, he does 'want' me in the purely physical sense, judging by the way he shamelessly ogled me upon our first meeting on the train, and his looking at my-

She whispered.

E: -bottom, on Monday, albeit more discreetly than on the train, possibly to attempt to keep me under the impression that he despises me entirely. This all points to a base physical attraction, but no emotional involvement. And I have no desire to start a casual sexual relationship with someone who has no interest in me as a person. I value my intelligence above my physical appearance. Obviously these values are reversed for Mr. Black in relation to myself. Therefore I am still reluctant to spend time with him.

By the end of this soliloquy, Evangeline was slightly flustered, somewhat unduly indignant, and the phrase 'methinks the lady doth protest too much' sprung to mind.

By the end of the whole spiel, Millie was in a fit of giggles again.

M: Really? And you can't say that you didn't enjoy the whole episode on Monday? Certainly you must have, considering how red your face was. You were only bumping into someone, after all. Repeatedly. After the professor told you to 'vividly imagine where you want to end up'.

She giggled again. Maybe her love life was nonexistent, but she got a kick out of other people's.

E: That isn't the point, that was a mistake. Maybe I subconsciously wanted to ram into Sirius. That makes sense. Yes. I wanted to bump into him to unsettle him. I do not 'get a kick' out of being started at by boys. I am firm believer in women's rights, and as such I should not be expected to blush and giggle because of someone staring at me.

Evangeline tossed her head, making her plait fly out like a whip.

Millie flinched back to save herself from being smacked by Evangeline's hair.

M: Okay, whatever you say.

She was just in denial.

M: Do you think there will ever be a time when you don't want to be at his throat? Both of you?

E: I may learn to tolerate him with disdain.

M: You already do that. Barely.

E: I may one day not want to throttle him. Or choke him with my braid. Or slap him.
